
A former shepherd's cottage nestling in the hills near the head of the remote and beautiful Ettrick Valley. This 19th century cottage is clean, comfortable and cosy. Efforts are continually made to maintain high standards and improve facilities, both inside and out. At the same time keeping the character of an authentic borders cottage.
Walking - bird-watching - wildlife
Located on the route of The Southern Upland Way (long distance walk) in an "Environmentally Sensitive Area". Birds of prey hover overhead while Dippers, Oystercatchers and Herons can be seen on the river only yards from the door and Otters if you're lucky. In spring, birds nest in the the cottage eves while Siskins and many others come to feed. During 2006 Osprey were sighted by visitors on several occasions.
We are sorry that Crook Cottage is not available for holidays during 2009. Please keep in touch for information on future holiday lets.

The cottage overlooks the Ettrick Water where you can swim in summer and watch salmon run in autumn. Although Crook Cottage is a little way from our farmhouse, guests are always welcome and have freedom to walk and enjoy the peace and tranquility of our 1,400 acre working hill sheep farm. |
Pets: All dogs by arrangement only. Under strict control both indoors and out (sheep). A field is always made available at Cossarshill for exercising your dog. A charge is made per dog per week. Sorry no cats.
